Learn to count with these friendly spotty dogs. Players take it in turn to spin the number spinner and pick a card from the table that shows a dog with the same number of spots. When the card is turned over, the player can see how many biscuit bones the dog has hidden in his basket. The winner is the player who has the highest number of bones when all the dog cards have been collected. This is an easy game to play, combining number recognition and counting skills in a simple, fun game. It also teaches patience as sometimes there are no dogs left with the right number of spots, so players have to wait for their next turn before they can collect any more bones. The illustrations are bright and cheerful and the game is quick to play, meaning it will hold children`s attention. Ref. Code:ORC001

Match and Spell encourages letter recognition, teaches phonetic word building and promotes matching of pictures and words, from simple words like `cat` to more complex four letter words. There are two ways to play, and the game is designed for both guided and independent word building. In the first version of the game, players must match the letter cards to the letters shown on their board in the correct order to build a word. This is a simple matching game which is a great way to introduce letter shapes and sounds. As children get more familar with the letter sounds they will progress to reading the words out loud. In the more challenging version of the game, players use the blank side of their boards and use the letter cards to build the word of the picture shown. These must be placed in the correct order. With friendly illustrations and simple gameplay that progresses as children learn, it`s no surprise that Match and Spell is our bestselling language and literacy game! Match and Spell Next Steps is a great follow-on from this game for children aged 5 and over. This hilarious game consists of 36 cards, each showing a different body part - heads, middles and legs - which can be made to form 12 characters. The ultimate object of the game is to be the first player to build three correctly matched characters, but along the way the characters` body parts get mixed up, producing some very strange combinations. The game starts by shuffling the cards and placing them in a pile, face down, in the middle of the table. Players take it in turns to pick a card and place it face upwards in front of them. Play continues until eventually they have a mismatched character. If they pick up a body part they already have, they can choose whether to swap the body parts or to keep the original. Any cards they don`t need are discarded into another pile, face up. Following players can choose to pick up from the main pile or the discard pile. Once they have a correctly matched person, that character is moved to one side, and play continues until someone wins by forming three correctly matched characters. Alternatively, children can have lots of fun simply playing with the different cards to see what funny characters they can make. An educational guide on the box shows how the game can complement your child`s education. There are many other ways to add play value to the game, such as talking about the different characters, or asking your child to find the person carrying some eggs, or the card that shows someone with green hair. Ideally suited for ages 3 to 7, children will have great fun with these Pick and Mix People. Safety Warning Ref. Code:ORC008
